Kauffmann Guitars are build in the Netherlands. Kauffmann builds custom shop quality guitars at a fair and affordable prices. Every Kauffmann has that delicate worn-in feel, it’s like coming home. Because, according to Boss Kauffmann, it’s all about “the feel”.

Feel

Kauffmann guitars are lightweight. A Kauffmann guitar with a Paulownia body usually weighs under 2900 grams and a guitar with Alder body ussualy weighs between 3300 and 3500 grams For many players, this feels like a light guitar. The guitar feels like it has been on the road for decades. The fingerboard has rolled edges and the neck has little or no lacquer on the back. The body finish is always aged to be in balance with the neck. The playability of the guitar is, of course, an important component in “feel”. Much attention is paid to the fret work and setup of the guitar. Each guitar is played and checked by Boss Kauffmann before it leaves the workshop.

Looks

Kauffmann guitars are finished with original nitro cellulose lacquer a dazzling variety of colors. Some are original guitar colors from ’50s and ’60s and some are a bit more creative. Each color fits the vintage theme that typifies Kauffmann guitars. Each guitar is subtle aged. So that the guitar looks like it already has lived a full and playfull life. Aging is done in three varieties; light, medium and heavy. But we never take it over the top. Thus, each guitar feels played in and is unique, no two guitars look the same.

Sound

Soundwise, Kauffmann aims for a bluesy warm tone. We use the Kauffmann slightly overwound transparent Kauffmann pickups to achieve these creamy transparant tones.
